DINING ALONG MUI NES MAIN BACK ROAD STRIP
Visitors in the major resort area at the west end of Mui Ne Beach only have to wander out the back of their beachfront hotel onto the main road to find the main restaurant and dining area.  This, along with the intertwined shopping area, runs for over a kilometre, the east end of Mui Ne has only a thin sprinkling of decent restaurants, through there are more little street stalls aimed at the locals in this urban area.
The restaurants at the west end come alive during the sunset hours, for during the day it is simply too hot for street life.  Few of them have air-conditioning.  After dark the whole street here comes alive, and the open-air restaurants are pleasant places to sit and enjoy the passing parade. Most restaurants offer a rather standardized list of international dishes, with a mix of Vietnamese.  The number and variety of restaurants grows year-on-year, as does the creativity in their design and the quality of cuisine.  Mui Ne is maturing from season to season, and the opening of better restaurants (with the closure of the poor ones) is part of that inevitable process.
Mui Ne Beach, Phan Thiet, Vietnam. Attractive, open-air restaurants unfold along Mui Ne’s emerging ’strip’ each evening.

MUI NE’S FUN SEAFOOD RESTAURANT STRIP
Mui Ne’s most famous dining area - by far - is the strip of about 20 local seafood restaurants that begins about 3.3 kilometres from the west end of the beach, filling a narrow area 300 metres long where the road runs so close to the beach there is no space for resorts. It’s a perfect, narrow strip for restaurants, though.
The open air restaurants offer seafood displays - some of it live - that pull in small crowds of both Vietnamese and foreign tourists each evening.  Friday and Saturday evenings are their big days when the weekend crowds arrive from Saigon.  While a couple of establishments here have roofed areas and serve during the day, most open only from sunset onwards, closing quite late.
The seafood and Vietnamese dishes served here are the most authentic that one can find in Mui Ne, at real local prices.  It’s not surprising that so many visitors come here – the variety of dished is really wide, and the food quality the best this writer found in Mui Ne.  There is significant differences in the size and quality of the dishes served in different restaurants here though, and in the prices. So do hunt around.  With nearly 20 of these establishments, and a similar number of food displays, the options are wide.
